Page UTK rights of rail passengers

In the last week (21.11.2011 r.) Railway Transport Office at www.pasazer.info.pl (and on www.pasazer.utk.gov.pl www.pasazer.org.pl i www.pasazer.org) launched a website designed for the passenger rail. After reviewing the content of a page I can confidently say, that UTK is to be commended not only for the idea but the execution.

Using the rail everyday life for a very large number of people. Unfortunately, a lot of Polish carriers still lack the robustness of our western neighbors (who by the way in a few years should appear in the Polish tracks), hence there are situations on a regular basis, if the journey does not proceed so, as planned. Many passengers in such cases does not have sufficient knowledge, to assert their rights, thence generally agree with the unpleasant consequences of unreliable transport activities. It is therefore very welcome recognition of the fact, that the site was, which trains people will be able to find all the information needed to, to properly take care of protecting their rights.

Acquainted with the structure and content of the page and I am confident, it will be great support for passengers. Planning a trip, on a new page, you can find links to timetables of all railway in Poland, shuttles and even the island of Usedom Usedomer Bäderbahn.

People with disabilities, in turn, will be finally able to establish, what awaits them when boarding and alighting the train at stations. For now, bookmark friendly stations for passengers only covers the Tri-City area, but in the future is to be expanded.

Another interesting initiative is the creation of a Passenger Bill of Rights, which is compiled and accessible form sets out the rights of rail passengers. The passenger does not have to independently browse several different pieces of legislation, to determine, which he is entitled. A similar role is played by the Traveler's Guide discusses the various aspects of rail travel.

Board allows passengers to actively influence the quality of services rendered by Polish carriers. On one hand, describes the procedure for lodging complaints, on the other hand, use it to report irregularities to the UTK. Moreover it allows to assess the work of individual carriers

Not to be underestimated are also published on the current information about traffic by rail – those recently experienced the same from Poznan – Wroclaw (TIR severed railway traction), anywhere on the internet but I was not able to determine what happens. Unfortunately, the department works, if only for local connections, a site for domestic flights is still under construction. But let's hope, that this will change soon.

The only drawback that I noticed is the lack of sub-division of the, thus include a link to a particular chapter is impossible and always goes to the homepage.

In conclusion it is worth from time to time look at page – knowledge of the issues raised on it will be helpful.

  1. extremely nice visual page. But the timetable came after the third search 🙂 but chwalisię office, that as the administration is associated with narrow-gauge track, for making the, which could be a coffee and Intercity one 🙂

    It is true – site could be more transparent. But the timetable is just the first tab in the main menu, so it should not cause trouble 🙂
